Family Life Ambassadors - Are you one yet?

There are more women in the workforce now than ever before, with many having dependent children to look after. Along with the continual expansion of the male’s care-giving role, these trends indicate that managing a family is becoming a more complex task.

In our increasingly competitive society where hard work is needed to keep up with the pacesetters, there will be a build-up of pressure to ably manage the dual responsibility of work and family. In order to maintain a harmonious balance between these two areas, you will need some necessary skills.

The Family Life Ambassador (FLA) programme was developed primarily to impart family life skills, especially to working adults, in the midst of their busy schedules. Tips on marriage preparation/enrichment, parenting and family life can now be made accessible at the workplace and within the community to equip people with skills to manage their family life.

The programme has its fair share of benefits, but understands that positive changes do not occur overnight. Purposeful planning and enthusiastic encouragement are also needed to successfully experience the joys of work and family life. Together, we can build strong and stable families that can weather the storms of life.

HUMOUR OF MARRIAGE (not too serious)

Wife: 'What are you doing?'
Husband: Nothing.
Wife: 'Nothing...? You've been reading our marriage certificate for an hour.'
Husband: 'I was looking for the expiry date.'

Wife : 'Do you want dinner?'
Husband: 'Sure! What are my choices?'
Wife: 'Yes or no.'

Wife: 'You always carry my photo in your wallet.. Why?'
Hubby: 'When there is a problem, no matter how great, I look at your picture and the problem disappears.'
Wife: 'You see how miraculous and powerful I am for you?'
Hubby: 'Yes! I see your picture and ask myself what other problem can there be greater than this one?'

Stress Reliever Girl: 'When we get married, I want to share all your worries, troubles and lighten your burden.'
Boy: 'It's very kind of you, darling, but I don't have any worries or troubles.'
Girl: 'Well that's because we aren't married yet.'

Son: 'Mum, when I was on the bus with Dad this morning, he told me to give up my seat to a lady.'
Mom: 'Well, you have done the right thing.'
Son: 'But mum, I was sitting on daddy's lap.'

A newly married man asked his wife, 'Would you have married me if my father hadn't left me a fortune?'
'Honey,' the woman replied sweetly, 'I'd have married you, NO MATTER WHO LEFT YOU A FORTUNE!'

Girl to her boyfriend: 'One kiss and I'll be yours forever.'
The guy replies: 'Thanks for the early warning.'

A wife asked her husband: 'What do you like most in me, my pretty face or my sexy body?'
He looked at her from head to toe and replied: 'I like your sense of humour!'

Husbands are husbands

A man was sitting reading his papers when his wife hit him round the head with a frying pan.
'What was that for?' the man asked.
The wife replied 'That was for the piece of paper with the name Jenny on it that I found in your pants pocket'.
The man then said 'When I was at the races last week Jenny was the name of the horse I bet on'
The wife apologized and went on with the housework.

Three days later the man is watching TV when his wife bashes him on the head with an even bigger frying pan, knocking him unconscious. Upon re-gaining consciousness the man asked why she had hit again.
Wife replied: 'Your Horse phoned!!! '

Disclaimer: Well, just laugh along... don't take the above too seriously!
Just let your husbands know that YOU know what's going on... or not going on! haha...

Long time no see or email! hehe..

I've planned some June School Hols Programmes:

1) 30 May 2010 (Sun) - OVER! WE HAD FUUUUUUNNNN!
"Dairy Farm with FUN" - family excursion to Dairy Farm with organised activities
Includes 2 way transport & Lunch
$6 per pax (FOC for kids on lap)
pick up from CC at 8.15am. End after lunch at CC (abt 2pm)

2) 19 June 2010 (Sat) - LAST 2 VACANCIES!!
"Beary Treats"
Make your own personalised bear with basic materials provided.
Includes Lunch and movie-sharing!
$15/per bear (adult-child pair)
Start 10am and ends after lunch and movie abt 3pm.

3) 20 June 2010 (Sun) - Fathers Day - SORRY, FULLY BOOKED!! =P
Have fun at Wild Wild Wet!
Adult: $8
Child (3 -12 ): $5
Senior Citizens (above 55 yrs old): $2
Includes 2-way transport and admission fees. Lunch on your own.
Pick up at 9.30am, end abt 3.30pm at CC.

PSST.... Sand City is back!
Come bask in the sun, enjoy the sea-breeze and make sand-castles on 29 May 2010 (Sat) at the Playground @ Big Splash.
Sand-castle workshop and Dinner PLUS Movie-screening treat await YOU and your families!

thank you all for the wonderful emails and suggestions!

of them all, i thought a few sounded quite interesting (and I personally like them too!):
- reading group
- singing group
(thought might combine these two and become a Voice Corner or something! haha!)
- excursions and picnics ( weather a bit hot recently! oops!)
- educational something during school hols (okay okay... am trying.... keep suggestions coming!)

Well, I really need manpower to coordinate and brainstorm and organise, not to mention to keep this blog alive and facebook too!

So, parents (or even old-'nuff kids!) , contribute and make this IPC yours too! =)
